Plan enough time between scenic areas. Combining Guilin, Yangshuo and Longji works best with a well-planned route.
Best time to visit
March to November works well for most trips. Spring is lush and mild, summer is warm and humid, and autumn usually offers comfortable weather and clear countryside views.
How many days do I need?
Three days works for Guilin, the Li River and Yangshuo. Four to five days is better if you want slower countryside time or the Longji Rice Terraces.
How to get there
Fly into Guilin Liangjiang International Airport or arrive by high-speed rail. Guilin has rail connections with many major cities in southern and central China.
Getting around
The main sights are spread across Guilin, Yangshuo and Longji rather than concentrated in one city center. Private transfers or a well-planned combination of transfers and local transport make the trip smoother.
What to combine it with
Yangshuo and Longji Rice Terraces fit naturally into a Guilin itinerary. For a longer China trip, Guilin also works well as a nature-focused stop between major city destinations.
