Stay close to the historic center if possible and visit the most famous gardens early, then explore Pingjiang Road or Shantang Street later in the day when the canals become more atmospheric.
Best time to visit
March to May and September to November are usually the most comfortable periods for walking through gardens and canal districts. Spring flowers and autumn foliage add extra color to the classical landscapes.

How to get there
